Mark your calendars for August 25th and 26th in Bloomington for our big WIUS/WIUX 50 Year Celebration!
The IU Campus Radio Alumni Association invites you to join us in Bloomington on Friday, August 25th, and Saturday, August 26th, as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of WIUS/WIUX.
We need a count of those planning to attend so we can plan food and drinks. Please let us know that you will be coming — or that you are not able to attend.
August 25th Media School Reception
The August 25th Media School reception time is 7:30 PM. Media School Dean, Dr. James Shanahan will attend. This reception presents an excellent opportunity for Campus Radio alumni to discover I.U.'s new Media School in Franklin Hall.
The evening dress code is "casual". The dress code of our past Alumni Weekends has been "anything goes", so please dress accordingly as we are guests of the Media School.
Parking in the following lots is free on Friday, beginning at 5 PM. Parking is also free all day Saturday and Sunday.
1. Von Lee parking lot south of 6th and west of Indiana Ave. (Lot #404)
2. Lot on the corner of Fourth and Dunn streets (Lot #412)
3. Lot on the corner of Sixth and Dunn streets (Lot #402)
Unlike past years, no parking passes will be provided.
Alumni Reunion picnic - Saturday, August 26th
The Saturday Reunion is scheduled at the Upper Cascades Park Lion's Den Shelter from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM (or whenever we call it quits!). This will be a catered Barbecue lunch. We have the shelter all day. This will be our chance to meet, greet and exchange stories of our Campus Radio experiences.
Unlike previous years when we have had cook-outs at the station house, we will be having Saturday's meal catered. Please be prepared to contribute $10 per person (or more if you like) to off-set the food and drink costs. Please let Neil Bolding or Don Worsham know if you have specific food requests. There will Vegetarian meals for those who request them in advance.
WQAD co-founder Steve Peterson plans to be in attendance. We look forward to Steve's memories of how Campus Radio started in Wright Quad.
The All Request Show Returns August 26th!
The popular Saturday Night All Request Show will be returning Saturday evening August 26th starting at 8:00PM. The direct studio number for requests will be 812-855-WIUX(9489) and by email to email@example.com.
WIUX is expected to resumed broadcasting in time for the start of the Fall Semester which begins Monday August 21st. The WIUX internet streaming audio can be heard at wiux.org.
WITT 91.9 FM in Indianapolis will also carry the All Request Show.
We would like to get a count of those planning to attend to pass along to The Media School, and help us arrange for food for Saturday's reunion. Please let us know that you will be coming — or not able to attend. While we anticipate more reunion gatherings in the future, there is no certainty. Therefore, we are hoping for a large attendance to celebrate this 50 year milestone for WIUS/WIUX, and the opportunity to spend time with our friends from the last 5 decades.
Wiux Ends Station House Broadcasting
At noon Friday, July 14, 2017, WIUX ended live broadcasting and internet programming from the WIUX Station House at 717 E. 8th Street. At 3PM, programming resumed from the Wells Library transmitter site. It is unknown when Internet Streaming will resume.
WIUX was moved from 717 8th Street into temporary storage space made available in the IU Media School on July 17, 2017 - exactly 50 years to the day when WIUS received the keys to its first station house at 617 E. 8th Street. WIUS co-founder Jim Hansen was present on July 17th for the WIUX move.
The WIUX Media School studios are not yet completed, but should be ready by August 21st, just in time for the start of the Fall Semester.
The Indiana University Campus Radio Alumni Association was formed to find and reunite the people who made the creation and survival of IU Campus Radio possible.
IUCRAA.org is the home page of this Association, which is dedicated to collecting and sharing the history, images, sounds and memories of Campus Radio at Indiana University, focusing now on the First Decade.
It's also your place to reconnect and stay in touch with your once and always friends from your time at the station.
Use the contact update form to keep your info up-to-date so we can notify you about upcoming events.
The history page provides a brief account of the creation and first decade of IU campus radio, thanks to the research efforts of Jim 'Jasen' Hansen. If you have text, photos, audio, printed material, or other memorabelia from the first decade, let us know using the contact page.
Visit the people page for the Yearbook of IU Campus Radio... all the names of those active in campus radio during the first decade. Well, nearly all. If you have information to contribute, use our contact page.
