Mark your calendars for August 25th and 26th in Bloomington for our big WIUS/WIUX 50 Year Celebration!

The IU Campus Radio Alumni Association invites you to join us in Bloomington on Friday, August 25th, and Saturday, August 26th, as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of WIUS/WIUX.

We need a count of those planning to attend so we can plan food and drinks. Please let us know that you will be coming — or that you are not able to attend.

There will be 2 major events happening that last weekend in August 2017. First of all, we will have a reception with light refreshments at the station's new location in the Media School (located in Franklin Hall on the west end of the IU campus near Kirkwood and Indiana Avenues) from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, Aug. 25th. We will be able to see the new WIUX studios and office, and other areas in The Media School. This event will be hosted by The Media School and attended by James Shanahan, Dean, faculty members and the WIUX student staff.

The other major event will be a reunion gathering at the Lion's Den picnic shelter in Cascades Park just north of Bloomington on Saturday, Aug. 26th, from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM (or whenever we call it quits!) We will be sending more specific information and directions for both of these activities well in advance of August. There may be other activities added, but no live, on-air programming by alumni is currently planned.

The reception on Friday evening at The Media School is a free event. The Saturday reunion gathering will include food and drink. We are asking for a small contribution of $10.00 per person (or more if you feel so inclined) to help cover expenses. This will be collected at the event at the Lion's Den.

We would like to get a count of those planning to attend to pass along to The Media School, and help us arrange for food for Saturday's reunion. Please let us know that you will be coming — or not able to attend. While we anticipate more reunion gatherings in the future, there is no certainty. Therefore, we are hoping for a large attendance to celebrate this 50 year milestone for WIUS/WIUX, and the opportunity to spend time with our friends from the last 5 decades.

IU Bicentennial Oral History Project
WIUX was contacted by Karen Keffer from the IU Oral History Project: "As part of the plans for IU's bicentennial celebration in 2020, we are gathering oral histories from our alumni. The official records of the university can only tell us so much - we need to learn more about campus student life."
If you'd like to participate, please contact Neil Bolding.
